Secretary of State Kim Wyman said in a statement that the Department of Homeland security informed her office Friday of the attempted breach, which state officials had already been aware of.

"As we've stated before, we continue to work cooperatively with DHS - including during the election a year ago".

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security says Wisconsin's voter registration system was unsuccessfully targeted by Russian hackers. "There was no successful intrusion and we immediately alerted the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the activities". The state's system blocked the IP addresses completing the scans.

The news that states were targeted by Russian Federation was first announced by Homeland Security at a U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on June 21.

OECD revises up Japan's 2018 growth forecast to 1.2 percent

The Wisconsin Elections Commission plans to work together with federal, state and local elections officials on the plan to prevent any security breaches.

When asked by The Seattle Times in June whether Washington state was targeted in any way, Erich Ebel, a spokesman for the office, said, "We have no confirmed reports of our system being compromised and we don't expect any".

IN got better news, with DHS reporting it had not detected any Russian attempts to hack into the state's voter registration systems, according to Valerie Warycha, deputy chief of staff for Secretary of State Connie Lawson.
