Walmart testing 'direct-to-fridge' delivery

The customers will utilize an August smart lock to allow delivery drivers a one-time entry into their home.

A large number of customers' immediate response to news that Walmart is testing "in-fridge delivery" was essentially "stay away".

People who want their groceries delivered straight into the fridge, you're in luck-Walmart is testing a system that will send delivery drivers through your locked door and all the way into your kitchen. "Think about that", Eddleston encourages busy families like his: "someone else does the shopping for you AND puts it all away". The service doesn't just apply to groceries - orders can be placed in shoppers' homes or garages, if needed - but appears aimed primarily at those who want fresh food not only delivered but stored properly while they're not at home, so that their groceries are "nice and cool in the fridge, as if they never left their display in the store".

Customers can watch the full delivery process on their smartphones through the "August home" app, and home security cameras.

"There is not a chance in hell I would let them in my house when I am not home!" one Facebook user commented on Business Insider's article on the test. "Seriously, WORST customer service!"

The first headphones with Google Assistant are now official for $349
The same controls remain on the right earcup - audio volume, and the multi-function button for incoming calls and accessing Siri. The Bose QuietComfort 35 II comes out into the markets with a price tag of $350 and it comes in two variants - Black and White.

The deliveries themselves are being handled by Deliv - a service that Walmart-owned Sam's Club began testing past year for last mile deliveries in Miami.

The retailer said it is trying out the service with a small group of tech-savvy Walmart.com shoppers in California's Silicon Valley who have internet-connected locks.

If the tests goes well, the Walmart is interested in expanding the service. With each experiment, Walmart is refining its customer experience strategy while also cutting shipping costs, boosting efficiency, and improving delivery times as it competes with ecommerce giant Amazon.

Walmart didn't say how long it will run this latest test, or if it plans to expand it in the future to more cities.
