North Korea Warns Of Another Nuclear Test

U.S. President Donald Trump delivers his address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York U.S

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un threatened to "tame with fire" U.S. President Donald Trump, whom he referred to as "mentally deranged U.S. dotard".

The 33-year-old chairman was responding to comments Trump made at the United Nations General Assembly, during which he threatened to "totally destroy North Korea". "We continue to strive for the reasonable and not the emotional approach.of the kindergarten fight between children".

Tensions have risen in recent weeks over North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile tests, despite intense pressure from world powers. Ri Yong Ho added that he did not know Kim Jong Un's exact thinking on the matter.

He said: "We can't have madmen out there shooting rockets all over the place".

The role of China, the chief benefactor of North Korea that is often opaque and ambivalent about the Kim Jong Un regime, can be frustrating and inconclusive.

If Washington had had a viable military option for taking out North Korea's nuclear programme, it would have used it before the North had a viable nuclear device.

If enforced, the Chinese action Trump described could severely impede the isolated North's ability to raise money for its missile and nuclear development.

The United Nations Security Council had also condemned the recent launch of another ballistic missile by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and called on the country's leadership to halt such activities and explore resumption of honest dialogue on de-nuclearisation.

The president was meeting with and having lunch Thursday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, seeking to show a common front in facing the North Korean threat despite marked differences in outlook. Lavrov suggested that a neutral European country could mediate.

China, North Korea's largest trading partner and last major diplomatic ally, has cut off imports of coal, iron ore, seafood and other goods from North Korea in line with United Nations sanctions.

Mr. Kim's dynastic rule emphasizes self-reliance and plays off enemies overseas; to change his behavior will be extremely hard and take time.

Hours before Kim's statement, Trump announced stiffer new sanctions on North Korea as he met his South Korean and Japanese counterparts in NY.

I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged USA dotard with fire.

While Mr Trump then said he would be willing to meet with Mr Kim under the "right circumstances" and called the leader a "smart cookie", North Korea said it would up its nuclear testing to its "maximum pace" over sanctions. Japan, the only country to suffer an atomic attack, called the North Korean threat to conduct an atmospheric test "totally unacceptable".

The volley of insults continued yesterday as Mr Trump sent out a pre-dawn Twitter post: "Kim Jong Un of North Korea, who is obviously a madman who doesn't mind starving or killing his people, will be tested like never before!" the President tweeted.

Wow. Trump calls Kim Jung Un rocket man, and Kim calls Trump a mentally deranged dotard. It did not name specific weapons systems. Then when asked if diplomacy was still possible, he said: "Why not?"

The United States has separately imposed unilateral sanctions, some of which target firms from China which is the primary economic partner of North Korea.

"All relevant parties should exercise restraint instead of provoking each other", said Foreign Minister spokesman Lu Kang.

But one country's prudent steps to reinforce deterrence may be seen by the other as preparations for a pre-emptive strike.
