Trump lashes out on Twitter following McCain's comments on Friday

Sen. Rand Paul R-Ky. walks to the Senate chamber for a vote at the Capitol in Washington Tuesday Sept. 19 2017

Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) announced on Friday that he will not vote in favor of a bill that would repeal and replace parts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA), saying the way the bill would block grant health care funding to states "is a good thing to do".

Graham remained optimistic that McCain would eventually support the bill, telling an ABC affiliate on Thursday, "He won't vote because of our friendship, I would never ask him".

In July, he was one of three Republicans who went against the GOP's second attempt at repealing and replacing the Obamacare health program.

Paul, interviewed on NBC's "Meet the Press", attacked the centerpiece of the Republican bill that would have the federal government basically turn the health insurance system over to states in the form of "block grants".

Like other states, OH would also gain new flexibility in determining how to spend the federal money it receives under the Senate bill, crafted by Sens. Were 50 senators to vote affirmatively, Vice President Mike Pence would cast the final vote in the affirmative, passing the bill.

Trump claimed, in a tweetstorm mostly about health care, that premiums in Arizona and Alaska had skyrocketed, 116 and 200 plus percent, respectively.

Regarding Murkowski, he tweeted that in Alaska: "Deductibles high, people angry!" Susan Collins said yesterday she's "leaning against the bill", which would effectively kill it. It would also limit spending for Medicaid, the federal-state program that now covers more than 70 million low-income people.

Quake due to "suspected explosion" detected in N. Korea
Trump expressed thanks to Chinese President Xi Jinping for the move, saying "that was a great thing he did today". Wang called on the parties to "meet each other halfway by addressing each other's legitimate concerns".

Trump also said it was "sad" that Democratic leader "Chuck Schumer [Senator from New York] sold John McCain a bill of goods".

McCain's latest opposition came just hours after President Trump tried to crank up the pressure on holdout Republicans via Twitter.

The ads then remind the five senators - who either opposed or were key swing votes on previous repeal bills this summer - that the new legislation includes the same provisions as past repeal efforts, including "massive" cuts to Medicaid.

McCain said he objected to the Senate bill because it was not subject to debate, amendments and review by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. Odds are strongly against Sen Lisa Murkowski voting "yes".

And 16 major medical groups issued a joint statement against the Republican legislation.

That McCain is well enough to play this central figure in the Republican health care efforts is a surprise to many given the gravity of his diagnosis.

"We should not be content to pass health care legislation on a party-line basis, as Democrats did when they rammed Obamacare through Congress in 2009, " Mr. McCain said. "Lisa M comes through". The American Medical Association (AMA) said in a letter to US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (New York) that Graham-Cassidy "violates the precept of 'first do no harm, '" and it urged the Senate to reject both the now proposed legislation and "any other legislative efforts that would jeopardize health insurance coverage for tens of millions of Americans".
