Amazon Music gets Alexa support in US, UK, Germany and Austria

Voice Assistant Alexa is now available in the Amazon Music App

In a surprising move, Google has apparently blocked Amazon's Echo Show device from accessing YouTube.

Both Amazon and Google are now developing rival voice-controlled smart home speakers, which can act as a gateway to lucrative services. As of this afternoon, Google has chosen to no longer make YouTube available on Echo Show, without explanation and without notification to customers.

Here's what Amazon has been cooking up in recent months, and at least some of these products are likely to make an appearance at today's launch, according to product leaks and reports.

In a demonstration of the Echo Plus's smart home capabilities, Limp used Alexa, Amazon's voice-controlled assistant, to tell the Echo Plus to "discover devices" around a mockup kitchen and living room Amazon had set up at its headquarters. It was "disappointing", Amazon said, arguing that it hurts both companies' customers. Although the companies have "been in negotiations", the Google spokesperson said, no agreement has been made.

We're confident that with Photon, Firefox Quantum users will be impressed by the modern new design that puts their needs first. We've shipped a lot already, but we've been planning for many more projects to come together in Firefox Quantum.

The Verge speculates that this issue might relate to Amazon's failure to provide the full gamut of YouTube features in its Echo Show interface.

Amazon has recently availed a Voice assistant Alexa in its new Amazon Music app for both iOS and Android smart phones. It will resolve these issues soon. A message pops up, stating this: "Currently, Google is not supporting YouTube on Echo Show".

You can ask Alexa to play music based on a specific "genre, decade, mood, tempo, activity", or you can say some of the lyrics if you can't remember the name of a song, Amazon said. Users can give simple voice-commands like, "Play the new song by Fifth Harmony", and Alexa will play "He Like That".

Amazon says it is cutting the price of its Echo smart speaker to $100 from $180, improving the sound quality and upgrading its appearance with six new "shells". Google has blocked its video broadcasting platform from the device, saying it violated the terms of service.
