Bob Corker won't seek re-election in 2018

Tennessee Titans v Indianapolis Colts

Bob Corker's surprise announcement Tuesday that he will not seek re-election in 2018 could put in play what was once a safe GOP seat.

Attention quickly turned to Republican Gov. Bill Haslam, a close family friend of Corker's, who can't run for governor again next year because of term limits.

"Is it possible? I think it's possible".

When asked about a potential political career, Manning said, "I have no interest in the political world but would like to continue serving communities". "I hope the right person will step up to it". Manning, who was a star college quarterback at the University of Tennessee before his illustrious National Football League career, is reportedly one of the names being floated around to potentially run for Corker's seat. The quarterback also attended a Republican congressional retreat.

"I am running for the United States Senate to work as hard as I can to restore respect, honesty, and, most importantly, integrity in Washington", Mackler told the Tennessean Tuesday.

Coroner lacks evidence on ex-N. Korea detainee
The native of Wyoming, Ohio, near Cincinnati, was arrested during a tourist visit to the reclusive communist country. Trump administration officials have said they are reviewing whether North Korea will again be placed on the list.

The news came after Tennessee Sen.

Among the other candidates DesJarlais said could be in the running next year for Corker's seat could be Rep. Marsha Blackburn, whom he said "has been a strong conservative voice". But he still has $2.3 million in his campaign account.

State Sen. Mark Green, who dropped out of the gubernatorial race after he withdrew from his nomination as Army secretary, is expected to announce his intentions in the next few days.

In Corker's 2012 reelection cycle, Manning gave him $1,500 in the primary and $2,500 for the general election.
