Charles Davenport Jr.: NFL protests are profoundly offensive

Over the past few days, President Donald Trump has roundly criticized NFL players who are protesting by taking a knee during the national anthem, but arguably they are following his own advice, which appears in a recent interview with Forbes Magazine.

He tweeted,"The booing at the NFL football game last night, when the entire Dallas team dropped to its knees, what the loudest I ever heard".

The president's comments sparked a swift and widespread rebuke from the National Football League last weekend as many players, coaches and owners kneeled, locked arms or stayed off the field during pregame ceremonies.

James said he'll continue to support his players' decision to stand or knee during the national anthem and encourage them to stay engaged in the social climate.

US President Donald Trump has said his comments about national anthem protests have "nothing to do with race".

"The governor said we are doing a great job", Trump said, adding that Gov. Ricardo Rosselló "thanked me specifically for FEMA".

'I don't care if Uber leaves Quebec,' says Montreal mayor
Ride-hailing company Uber says it will cease operating in Quebec next month if the province doesn't rescind new rules introduced last week.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color", Kaepernick said in 2016.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' side of the field is almost empty during the playing of the national anthem before the game against the Bears on Sunday in Chicago.

Three teams did not take the field for the national anthem and numerous NFL owners came out against Mr Trump's statements. Dinesh D'Souza, a conservative political pundit, called for fellow opposers to boo the teams and players that refuse to stand during the anthem. Do you know someone else we should interview for this story?

According to a poll conducted by the Remington Research Group on September 25, 64 percent of 1,633 responders believe players should stand and be respectful during the anthem. Kaepernick now does not have a job in the National Football League; six players engaged in some form of protest during the anthem at games the week before Trump brought up the matter. If these players want to correct injustice, they need to get involved in their community and give back, instead of kneeling to prove some "right" to protest.

In May, he repeated his argument that Trump is a "useful fool" for the Russian government, in light of Moscow's intervention on his behalf during the election and the president's routine displays of affinity for their leaders.

"Not at all", Trump said.
