Delta : Now you can text during your flight for free

Delta CEO Ed Bastian tells

Well, that's perfectly legal and starting Sunday, you'll be able to do it on Delta flights worldwide.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian tells "CBS This Morning" in-flight messaging is coming soon.

"Rather than having to count down the hours until landing, Delta customers can continue socialising or working with the tap of a smartphone and enjoy peace of mind at every stage of the flight".

'We're in the business of connecting people, connecting the world, and we want our customers, while they're flying, to stay connected to their friends, their family.

Delta passengers can message via iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Delta says the service will make it the airline with the most aircraft offering free messaging, as well as the airline bringing the service to the most customers.

O'Driscoll pitches for Rugby World Cup as May dons green jersey

This isn't the first time Delta attempted to launch free in-flight services. You can access it through Delta's WiFi portal page.

Bastion took over as CEO in May of past year.

Beginning Oct. 1, Delta Air Lines will become the biggest USA global carrier to offer free mobile messaging during flight, the company announced Wednesday.

Delta is the biggest carrier to offer the service, though.

However, the texting service doesn't support sending photos or videos.

Among its major legacy competitors United and American, Atlanta-based Delta said it is the first to offer free mobile messaging and will have the most aircraft with free messaging of any carrier.
