Trump wall prototype to be built this week

The concrete mock-ups will "allow CBP to evaluate the potential for new wall and barrier designs that could complement the wall and barrier designs we have used along the border over the last several years", according to a statement issued by the federal agency.

Supervisor Greg Cox said it is important for the county to take precautionary measures since the federal government is moving forward with building prototypes for the border wall proposed by President Donald Trump.

Four of the prototypes will be concrete, while the other four will be made of various materials.

"Our multi-pronged strategy to ensure the safety and security of the American people includes barriers, infrastructure, technology, and people", said Vitiello in a statement.

Six companies were selected to build the concrete and the alternative prototypes. A contractor is scheduled to inspect each model, which will be up to 30-foot high and 30-foot long.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Broke Royal Protocol By Holding Hands
The couple was photographed holding hands (which is a big deal ) as they made their way to the sporting event on Monday. It's thought they refrain from public affection because they are working representatives of the British monarchy.

The issue of who's footing the bill for the wall has proved to be an area of contention between the USA and Mexico, as President Trump has repeatedly called on Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto to commit to sharing the costs of his "big, beautiful" wall. Estimates for the cost of the border wall have ranged up to US$38 billion. During the president's speech in Alabama Friday night, he talked about final choices being made with respect to the wall. The prototypes are expected to be finished within 30 days.

"We consider the prototypes political theater for a wall that has no funding, and has really no way to exist", said Soto.

Besides this, the administration and some congressional Republicans have entertained games of chicken over inserting wall money in must-pass appropriations legislation butting up against funding deadlines.

Vitiello emphasized that CBP is looking for a "more holistic view" on border security, including cameras, sensors and an enforcement zone in the wall plan. The parking ban, which started Tuesday, will extend to November 10, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The President has since said he will find a way to make Mexico repay the U.S. for construction of the wall, but hewould require Congress to fund it first.
