FDA tells bakery: Love is not an ingredient

Nashoba Brook Bakery

A bakery in MA was scolded by the FDA for listing "love" as an ingredient on its granola labels.

An FDA spokesman pointed out that the "love" warning was just one violation of several included in the agency's letter to the bakery. "Frankly, their food tastes awesome with [love], so let's keep it in".

A bakery in MA has been ordered by the regulatory body to longer include "love" in a list of ingredients used to create granola products, the publication said.

The co-owner of a MA bakery that the government has told to remove "love" from its list of granola ingredients says he doesn't understand why the company is being asking to make the change after almost two decades.

"I really like that we list "love" in the granola", he said.

The bakery argues that it's not confusing anyone, and that the FDA's claim about its ingredient list being deceptive feels "silly" and "so George Orwell". "Love", said the FDA, is "not a common or usual name" for any ingredient.

According to The Boston Globe, the warning letter from the FDA came after a series of inspections at the bakery's manufacturing facility.

'People ask us what makes it so good. According to the letter, Nashoba sold granola with labeling that said one of the ingredients was.

Federal officials say a MA bakery had several violations other than its listing of "love" as an ingredient in its granola.

The FDA goes on to say that the bakery violated food labelling regulations by misbranding the item.
