Because Apple is rolling out "hundreds" of new ones when it releases iOS 11.1.

The fifth generation of emoji will contain up to 69 new characters, according to Emojipedia, bringing the total number of approved emoji to 2666 as of June.

Apple said that the new emojis are created to reveal every character announced on World Emoji Day earlier this year will also be included in iOS 11. It's the "I love you" in American Sign Language emoji.

The saltire, along with the other new images such as a breastfeeding woman and some broccoli, are available as part of Apple's new iOS update 11.1.

House Democrats pushing gun control after Las Vegas mass shooting
Yesterday was about holding hands and inviting the wounded to come visit him and Melania at the White House when they healed. During Sarah Huckabee Sanders' press briefing today, she said that the Trump Administration welcomes the NRA's statement .

Face emojis got a little more silly with a tilted expression with the tongue out, sophisticated by wearing a monocle, and snippy with a to-the-point "Shhh!" emoji.

Apple has been working to diversify its emoji lineup over the past few years, introducing the option of selecting an emoji's skin tone and adding same-sex couples to its roster.

Winter season is near (especially once these emoji characters are added) and so Apple chose to bring characters like a baseball cap, a scarf, pair of gloves, and a trench coat. You should also back up your device through iTunes by plugging it into a Mac or PC, just in case the new beta ends up crashing your iPhone or iPad.

Apple announced it had accepted the design earlier this summer.
