The three were planning to bomb Time Square, the #New York City subway system as well as conduct a shooting at a concert.

NEW YORK, NY - A New York City Police officer stands guard in Times Square June 5, 2017 in New York City. The alleged plotters also referenced an ISIS attack on a concert venue in Paris in 2015 that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more.

Also charged were Talha Haroon, 19, a US citizen living in Pakistan, and Russell Salic, 37, of the Phillipines, who allegedly wired $423 to help finance the plot.

El Bahnasawy and Haroon both allegedly told the undercover office they declared allegiance to ISIS, under the impression that he was in fact an ISIS-connected individual. They also wanted to plant bombs and shoot people in parts of the city during the holy month of Ramadan.

El Bahnasawy, while in Canada, purchased an array of bomb-making materials for use in the planned attacks, including approximately 40 pounds of hydrogen peroxide, batteries, Christmas lights, thermometers, and aluminum foil - all of which could be used in making explosive devices, authorities said.

Las Vegas shooter researched locations including Fenway
Malia Obama, daughter of former President Barack Obama, was among the thousands of spectators at the Lollapalooza festival. NBC News reported that Paddock researched hotels around Fenway Park, according to an anonymous law enforcement official.

On May 11, $423 United States was sent from the Philippines to help fund the plan, the U.S. Justice Department says. "El Bahnasawy further informed the [undercover agent] that Salic was a trusted ISIS supporter who had provided funding in support of ISIS on prior occasions", the US DoJ said, using another acronym for IS.

Sources familiar with the case said this was not a typical law enforcement sting operation, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the NYPD became aware of the plot and introduced an undercover operative to help monitor it.

According to criminal complaints, Bahnasawy, 19, told the undercover agent that "t$3 hese Americans need an attack", and he wanted to "create the next 9/11". But according to the indictments, Al Bahnasawy, who has already pleaded guilty to multiple charges, traveled to Cranford, New Jersey, in May of 2016 and had designs on carrying out the attacks before he was cuffed by authorities waiting there for him. Haroon and Salic were arrested in foreign countries, according to the press release.

In May of 2016, El Bahnasawy wrote about plans to detonate a vehicle bomb in Times Square. Salic pledged to raise money for the operation, and later sent the same agent $423 in funding. Terrorists from all over the world usually come here as a breeding ground for terrorists. hahahaha. "They dont care bout [sic] IS [IS].loll Only in west". All of these three charges carry the maximum penalty of life in prison.

Haroon was arrested in Pakistan in September last year, and Salic was detained in April this year. Salic is awaiting extradition from the Philippines, and Haroon is awaiting extradition from Pakistan.
