Georgia starting LB Natrez Patrick facing four-game suspension after pot arrest

Georgia inside linebacker Natrez Patrick speaks to reporters on Nov. 11 2016

Patrick has 17 tackles so far this season and has started in every game.

Patrick was initially approached by police because he unlawfully parked his auto in front of a convenience store with his flashers on. He was released Friday morning at 12:25 on bonds totaling $1,500.

Patrick was suspended for one game against Kentucky as a freshman in 2015 following his first arrest on marijuana charges. Patrick, the driver of the vehicle, came out of the store.

Patrick, a starting linebacker for the Bulldogs, was charged with misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and prohibited stopping, standing or parking. Police asked him for his driver's license, which was in the auto. Patrick let the officer know his wallet was in the vehicle and the officer told Patrick to retrieve it. Per the report, police smelled the odor of marijuana and asked if there was any cannabis in the auto, to which Patrick replied there was not.

General threats made against Michigan State sports
MI has the last victory with a 32-23 win in 2016, but the history of this rivalry has proven that anything can happen on game day. LJ Scott will need a big bounce-back game against the Wolverines if the Spartans are going to have a chance.

Patrick was asked if there was marijuana in the vehicle or anyone recently had marijuana in it and said no.

The officer put Patrick in handcuffs and asked him again.

Just when it seemed like everything was going perfectly in Athens, Georgia middle linebacker Natrez Patrick reportedly is facing a legal issue. Thursday's practice was closed to the media.

If Georgia is without Carter and Patrick, such backups as freshmen Monty Rice and Nate McBride and junior Juwan Taylor could play bigger roles.
