Russian Forces Destroy Daesh Command Post in Syria, Killing About 80 Terrorists

Russia's Defense Ministry refutes reports about downed helicopter in Syria

Moscow is supporting the government of President Bashar al-Assad in the battle to reclaim swaths of territory it lost in six years of civil war.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Russian air strikes on Thursday night killed 14 people, including three children, fleeing across the Euphrates on rafts near Mayadeen.

The Syrian military shelled al-Mayadin overnight and Syrian and Russian warplanes have conducted hundreds of strikes, it said.

"According to information received via several channels and confirmed "on the ground", influential Daesh field commanders, natives of the North Caucasus: Abu Omar al-Shishani, Alyauddin Al-Shishani and Salahuddin al-Shishani, who were hiding in Iraq for a long time, were destroyed", Konashenkov said.

Syria's state news agency SANA said troops killed many IS fighters on the western outskirts of Mayadeen and captured western parts of the town.

One Syrian Army source, speaking to Al-Masdar News, said that Al-Mayadeen should be fully liberated from IS terrorists within twelve hours.

The Observatory said on Friday there were clashes in several areas in eastern Deir al-Zor province.

Rohit Sharma began in splendid fashion but completely misjudged one from Nathan Coulter Nile to watch the pacer castle his timber. David Warner , who is leading the Australian team in absence of Steve Smith, said: "I'm honoured to be the captain".

Violence in eastern Syria has escalated significantly in recent weeks as Syrian troops with the help of Russian air cover have been closing in on Mayadeen.

Syrian troops have broken a almost three-year siege on parts of Deir el-Zour last month and are fighting to liberate from IS remaining parts of the city.

"On October 6, 2017 a Mi-28 helicopter had to make an emergency landing due to technical problems".

Dozens of ISIS militants, among them warlords and foreign fighters, were killed in a series of Russian airstrikes in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The Russian defense ministry has denied the men are its own.

The Russian accusations likely reflect rising tensions as US -backed Syrian forces and the Russian-backed Syrian army — both of which are battling IS — race for control of oil and gas-rich areas of eastern Syria.

Airstrikes have hit multiple towns south of Deir Ezzor in the past month as Syrian government forces and their allies fight with Islamic State for control of the area.
