Buccaneers bring in familiar face to replace Nick Folk

The Bucs are bringing in six kickers Monday as they seek a potential replacement for Nick Folk who has missed six kicks in the last two games. He went 0-for-3 on field goals in Thursday's loss to New England

According to a report from the Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman and the agent of Murray himself, the Buccaneers have announced the signing of a new kicker.

Folk, who replaced struggling kicker Roberto Aguayo, will be placed on injured reserve with minor designation, which means once he's healthy, he'll be released.

This will be Murray's second stint with the Bucs (2-2).

Murray has a career field-goal percentage of 80.8, which is a lot higher than what Folk has given the Bucs this year.

After Folk's poor performance against the Patriots, neither the kicker nor coach Dirk Koetter gave any indication that the 11th-year pro might be injured.

He missed the 2015 season with a torn ACL and, in a cruel twist of fate, suffered the same injury again while in Cleveland, where he played in just two games. Instead, Folk missed the kick wide left to cap off a nightmarish game that has now cost him his job.

Columbus Day -- and its Enemies
Los Angeles Councilman Mitch O'Farrell, a member of the Wyandotte Native American tribe, said historical accuracy is important. Some cities and states, including Alaska , Hawaii , Oregon and South Dakota, never have celebrated Columbus Day .

"It's part of the business".

The former Dallas and New York Jets kicker began the season by going 4 for 4 on field goals against the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. He also made all 31 extra points.

Murray, who made 20 of 24 field goal attempts for the Bucs during the 2014 season, won the recent kicking competition after Tampa Bay (2-2) reportedly worked out Cairo Santos, Mike Nugent, Andrew Franks and Josh Lambo.

In four games this year, the 32-year-old Folk has gone 6-for-11 on field goals, including five misses in the past two weeks.

Folk was signed last March to compete with Aguayo after the 2016 draft pick struggled as a rookie.

In another move Monday, the Bucs signed defensive end Patrick O'Connor to the practice squad.
