Kaepernick tells CBS he'll stand during national anthem

Commissioner NFL needs to ‘move past’ national anthem controversy

- Kaepernick doesn't want to go on camera because he thinks he would be labeled a "distraction" by NFL GMs looking for quarterbacks.

His reversal came after CBS anchor James Brown asked him about kneeling.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora told CBS Sports earlier Sunday that Kaepernick had said he would stand during the national anthem if he was signed to a NFL team.

Over the weekend, Vice President Mike Pence said he had left a game between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers after some players choose to kneel.

However, no one bothered to ask Kaep if he actually said this, including the reporter.

In that piece, Schefter wrote that, according to his sources, "Colin Kaepernick will stand during the national anthem next season". He also claimed that the quarteback will stop kneeling during the anthem in his bid to fully focus on football.

La Canfora, who interviewed Kaepernick Saturday, said in a series of five tweets that he never spoke to him about whether he would kneel during the national anthem if picked up by an NFL team. "He's going to donate all his jersey sales and he's planning on standing for the anthem if given the opportunity, J.B".

Sadio Mane joins Philippe Coutinho on 2017 Ballon d'Or shortlist
He scored 13 Premier League goals last season despite missing the whole of January due to the Africa Cup of Nations. Mane already has three in four league matches for Jurgen Klopp's so far in the current season.

However, after reports exploded quoting the CBS account, La Canfora took to Twitter to reveal that he had not spoken to Kaepernick about the question.

A spokesperson for CBS sports referred CNNMoney to those tweets.

"Colin would have to address any future demonstrations", La Canfora said in another tweet.

The dust-up even caught the attention of Kaepernick himself.

For his part, Kaepernick tweeted a quote from Winston Churchill, "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its trousers on".

The president told the crowd at the rally on September 22 that teams should fire players who kneel during the anthem.
