Amazon Launches Prime Student Program with No Annual Commitment

The catch: parents will be notified of each purchase via text or email, and will, by default, have to approve or deny each one.

Teen logins are evidently a new feature of Amazon Households, which allows an account holder to share prime shipping and digital content with members of their households.

"As a parent of a teen, I know how they crave independence, but at the same time that has to be balanced with the convenience and trust that parents need", said Michael Carr, vice president of Amazon Households, in a statement. Teens may also access certain Prime benefits if their parents are a Prime member.

Honeywell International Inc. (NYSE: HON)
The transaction was disclosed in a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission, which can be accessed through this link . Honeywell said the two spun-off business units together would generate annualized revenue of about US$7.5 billion.

The online retail giant said Wednesday that teens can now shop on Amazon on their own, if their parents let them. Parents can approve all orders or set pre-approved spending limits per order - offering teens a customized level of autonomy that can change and grow as they do. When teens add an item to their shopping cart, they will also have the option to add a note to explain why they need or want that item. The parent will choose a payment method and shipping addresses their teen can use when placing orders. Once a teen receives an invitation, they can create their own username and password. If there's a mistake in ordering, parents will be able to cancel and return any item as long as it meets Amazon's policies.

Parents also have to go to amazon.com/forteens and click on the "Parents Start Here" option, then "Get Started Now" on the next page and log in to Prime.

Their credit card information will be hidden on the teen accounts, as will their purchase and browsing histories.
