Arsene Wenger admits Gunners ARE considering selling Mesut Ozil in January

Alexis Sanchez

Both Ozil and Sanchez are being linked with major moves away from the club, while Arsenal are still keen on securing new deals for the pair.

The stalemate leaves Arsenal facing the possibility of their two star players departing for free and Wenger conceded selling mid-season is one solution.

Asked if Arsenal had set a deadline for contract negotiations with the pair to conclude, Wenger replied: "No".

Manchester City are reportedly "confident" of signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January, and his Gunners team-mates are "understood to believe the Chilean will finally be allowed to leave".

But Wenger remains hopeful the duo will stay at the club, following encouraging comments from Ozil's agent about a possible contract extension.

Alves said: "It is possible".

Brexit talks: EU, Britain say ball is in the other's court
After May's bungled election, her failure to unite the cabinet and a poor party conference, "the writing is on the wall", he said. May, however, struck a confident tone during her speech on Monday, telling MPs: "I believe we can prove the doomsayers wrong".

Arsene Wenger has cast doubt over whether Alexis Sanchez will be involved for their Premier League clash against Watford this weekend, after the Chile worldwide received "special treatment" on global duty. The fact that we didn't find agreement past year doesn't mean he wants to leave.

Both players look happy here and overall I hope the situation can be turned around'.

"I didn't want to speak to him much [at full time] because I know how tough it is and also because I didn't want for people to interpret things in a way that would have put my professionalism in doubt". "At the moment, we are not close enough to announce anything".

In the short term, Sanchez has to deal with the disappointment of Chile's failure to qualify for the World Cup, following their 3-0 midweek loss in Brazil.

'Yesterday, I watched the whole game and I must say he got some special treatment.

"It was very physical and mentally I will have to assess the situation".
