India's Nehra to quit internationals, IPL

Is Ashish Nehra's retirement at homeground a deal

Nehra is often the subject of social media jokes and memes. However, the jolly lanky pacer clarified it all in the press conference. "It's not fake news", smile Nehra. I have decided that (to retire). "It's my own decision". I am lucky enough, God is kind.

"I have spoken to the team management and the selection committee (about retiring)".

After being omitted for the West Indies and Sri Lanka series, Nehra was recalled for the T20I leg against Australia but didn't find a place in the playing eleven. "It can't get bigger than getting to retire in front of your home crowd", Ashish Nehra.

Nehra, who will be retiring after the first T20 global between India and New Zealand in Delhi on November 1, said that there is no rethinking on his decision. The match is scheduled to be held on November 1st at Feroz Shah Kotla, his homeground. You can not get a bigger game than that.

Nehra was recently picked for the three-match T20 global series against Australia but he wasn't picked for the first two matches.

Man charged for rigging Airbnb rental with hidden cameras
A Florida man has been charged after an IN couple found a hidden camera IN his Airbnb property they were renting. But even with all that in place, it's hard for guests to know to look for a tiny hole in a smoke alarm.

His journey could have been branded as a career of "could-haves", but Nehra never seemed to bother, so much so, that he made us not bother. But, for me there are times in domestic cricket or the IPL, when you may not pick up wickets but you still enjoy. Whatever I am today, it is because of cricket. Asked if there was any particular reason for his decision, he said: "No particular reason". Every cricketer knows about (retirement) time. Thanks to the BCCI and anti-corruption unit as well as the cops, I think they looked after each and everything really well. I think this is the way forward, especially the manner in which Bhuvneshwar has been bowling in the last couple of years, whenever I've played with (Jasprit) Bumrah, either of Bhuvi or (Mohammed) Shami have had to sit out.

"When I came into the series, I came prepared to play all games. If you see, I have played in all the T20 games in the past two years so I told my plans to them (team management)", said the Delhi veteran. Nehra also confirmed that he won't be playing in the Indian Premier League. He was with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He was a budding cricketer and I thought he had the right attitude and deserved a chance. I am not ruling out entering the coaching or mentoring job. "I will decide. As of now I have planned only till 1st of November". "I am not playing IPL, so you can judge me from that", he said on Thursday. So those struggling periods made me strong mentally. I won't even play IPL. I am that sort of a person who trains day in and day out to play for India. "I always wanted to retire on a high", he added. Everybody is saying that I can play for one more year. I won't even play IPL. "For me the true measure of success is how many times you bounce back from failure". As I have said, there are no big (T20) tournaments coming.

Nehra has so far played 17 Tests (44 wickets), 120 One-Day Internationals (157 wickets) and 26 T20Is (34 wickets) for the country.

Nehra has been serving the national side since 1999.
