Women Detained As Passport Photos Look Different After Plastic Surgery

When it comes to passport control, it's usually alright.

Three Chinese women who travelled overseas to get some work done on their face were unable to go back home as they were barred from taking their flights. Jian captioned that these women were detained and questioned by the immigration authorities after they could not be identified from photos on their passports even after they displaying their tickets and various documents.

The women - wrapped chin-to-dome in bandages - were barred from boarding a flight home at an airport in South Korea, detained and grilled by immigration officers.

A Chinese TV anchor Jian Huahua, shared a photo to her Weibo account, where the three women can be seen with passports in their hands and their faces heavily bandaged and swollen up after the surgery.

However, Jian has since removed her post, indicating that this story may very well have burned the Chinese internets.

The going theory on what caused it has to do with water currents and a flow of warmer water rising up and melting the ice. One of the biggest reason as to why this polynya remains so mysterious is that it's quite hard to explore such areas.

The three women were completely unrecognisable after plastic surgery. Almost half of women in Seoul under the age of 30 are estimated to use plastic surgeries to enhance their facial features.

Plastic surgery in South Korea is relatively cheap, and many people from China go to the country to improve their looks. It is not known what proportion is for plastic surgery.

South Korea is being recognized as the plastic surgery capital of the world and is regarded as "natural and harmless".

The unidentified women flew last week to the nip-and-tuck top destination during China's Golden Week, a national holiday in which residents are encouraged to take paid vacations, Asia Wire reported.
