India had a historic moment against Colombia in the last game as Jeakson Singh scored India's first ever goal in a Federation Internationale de Football Association tournament.

With Colombia beating the U.S. 3-1 in the other Group A game in Mumbai today, Ghana topped the group.

India are prepared for a fight when they face Ghana in their last group match of the ongoing Fifa Under-17 World Cup on Thursday.

So, India need to score at least three without response against Ghana. This ability to defend deep when the opposition is constantly on the attack will come in handy when these boys make it to the senior level.

Talking about the four changes he made in the starting XI against India, he said: "To start with a faster pace was a part of our strategy. we have equally good players in the side and so made the change".

"Against Ghana, we will need a lot of support", goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh added.

John Hackworth, coach of the United States of America soccer team, hoped to extend his stay in Navi Mumbai by topping Group A. But, as it turned out, they suffered their first defeat of the tournament, a 1-3 thrashing by Colombia on Thursday night at the DY Patil Stadium to force a three-way tie in this group.

Substitute Charles Spragg headed home an Elijah Just cross to halve the deficit for New Zealand on 72 minutes.

Ghana also needed a win to be sure of a top-two finish in the group and hence an automatic knock-out berth, prompting them to keep the Indian citadel under seize throughout the match.

"They (India U-17 footballers) are as intelligent as others".

Perhaps one of the biggest positives for the India U-17 football team is simply being there for the experience. For me it's simple: I knew the third game was going to be the hardest. They might have lost all their games, but they undoubtedly learned more in defeat than they would have in victory.
