Three people killed in skydiving accident at Mission Beach, Queensland

Ambulance crews were called to the accident site on Alexander Drive at Mission Beach

Three people died yesterday in what is believed to be a mid-air skydiving collision, with one of the victims found in someone's garden.

Queensland Police said that initial investigations indicated one of the instructor's - who was skydiving solo - collided with the tandem pair mid-air, with their parachutes failing to deploy.

Vision captured shortly before the fatalities has emerged of other tourists successfully completing their jumps at the beach.

The Daily Mail has reported that Pike, a mother of eight, received the skydiving trip as a 50th birthday gift from her family.

Two other bodies were then found in a nearby tree.

"Every person in Mission Beach we have spoken to about #skydive tragedy is absolutely heartbroken Big industry, well supported by locals", reporter Daniel Bateman reported on Twitter.
