Sublime New Aston Martin DB11 Volante Unveiled

Aston Martin DB11 Volante

The eight-layer roof promises the very latest in acoustic and insulation and extreme weather protection. Welcome! The new open model DB11 Aston Martin Volante is one of the most handsome convertibles in the world market!

The roof is available in three colours - bordeaux red, black silver or grey silver - to give Aston Martin buyers plenty of choice when customising their auto.

Called the DB11 Volante, the new soft-top Aston is powered by a 4.0-litre Mercedes-AMG-sourced V8 engine that develops 503bhp.

As with the DB11 coupe, the Volante's power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission.

The latest auto to feature in a James Bond movie is the Aston Martin DB11, which was only a pre-production unit then, but now, graces our roads as one of the best looking cars in the world.

This depth and breadth of ability is made possible by the Volante's three-stage powertrain and chassis modes.

One of the most striking (and polarizing) design features of the Aston Martin DB11 is its so-called floating roof - that odd C-pillar treatment that some love and some love to hate.

What's more, the boot's size increased by 20% over the DB9 Volante thanks to the new roof system. To pre-empt any snark about the water resistance of its convertible tops, Aston says it tested the roof mechanism for over 100,000 cycles in "special weather chambers" (which are probably way cooler in our imagination than in reality); apparently British engineering has come a long way.

With prices starting from £159,900 in the United Kingdom, €199,000 in Germany and $216,495 in U.S., the first cars are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2018. The results of the LCD test were then validated with real world testing of DB11 Volante development prototypes in locations including Death Valley and the Arctic Circle.

Max Szwaj, Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer, adds, "With the DB11 Volante we have maximised the advantages of the DB11's all-new bonded structure to underpin our new Volante with a structure that's 26kg lighter and 5 per cent stiffer than its predecessor".
