Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon speaks during a press conference, Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, in Los Angeles about Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

Jon Lester pitches for the defending World Series champs, while former Cubs pitcher Rich Hill starts for the Dodgers. He threw 55 pitches in 3 2/3 innings of relief in Game 4 of the NL Division Series on Wednesday, but Lester isn't concerned about that workload having any tiring effects after getting three days off. "This time of year, you have to adjust and figure it out". "It's kind of just work in between (starts)".

The Astros took a 2-0 lead in the American League Championship Series with a 2-1 win over the Yankees in Houston on Saturday. "So I guess they say to win a championship you've got to go through the current champions", said Roberts.

The Dodgers swept the Diamondbacks to reach the NLCS, while the Cubs beat the Nationals in five games. Just got to do it in the game as opposed to on the side.

Ezekiel Elliott eligible to play for time being
Sources tell Dash, Mazzant will not lift the injunction until the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals makes a ruling on the new motion. Elliott's suspension formally restarted Thursday after the 5th Circuit's ruling and is now set to end on Friday, Nov. 24.

Of course, his goal is to render the Dodgers scoreless. But you know what they say: "With the game on the line, you go down with the guy who led Major League Baseball in home runs allowed". They don't have Dexter Fowler at the top of their lineup, and they no longer have the Ben Zobrist that batted cleanup and posted an.831 OPS. So you are going to try and control that. "If you can keep that down as best you can, I think it gives you a chance". Dodgers manager Dave Roberts admits to not really caring who the team faced in the NLCS, but he doesn't exactly mind it's the Cubs either. I think we were down past year when we came in here.

Clayton Kershaw made his seventh career start in Game 1 of a postseason series.

If the Cubs' offense doesn't come alive in a big way in Chicago, there will be no repeat in 2017.
