Trump stance on Paris climate deal 'sad', says pope

Pope Francis

Fighting conflict and climate change, the pope said, are two given issues on any speech on food security related to the phenomenon of migration: "It is clear that wars and climate change lead to hunger, so let's avoid presenting it as an incurable disease".

"We see consequences of climate change every day", he said, calling for a change in the way the world uses resources. The FAO was holding a conference on the theme "Changing the future of migration".

Food was is a very common problem worldwide. "If we want to change the paradigm of migration, we need to find solutions in the countries of origin", he said.

"Goodwill and dialogue are needed to stop conflicts", he said, "and it is necessary to fully commit to gradual and systematic disarmament" as well as stop the "terrible plague of arms trafficking".

"What is the point of denouncing that, because of military conflicts, millions of people are victims of hunger and malnutrition, if we do not act effectively in the interest of peace and disarmament?" he said. "The fruits of the earth must be available to all", he said.

He praised initiatives such as the 2015 Paris Climate Accord, and urged nations to uphold the agreement.

This was believed to be a clear reference to the United States, which pulled out of the agreement June 1 as President Donald Trump announced the us would pursue other means of addressing the environmental issue more favorable to American interests.

Aleks Pihler to draw on Maribor's record when they face Liverpool
When asked if he'll rotate his side, Klopp said: "No chance". "The performance on Saturday should give us confidence. They usually have to attack , they are the top team in Slovenia.

"We can't be satisfied by saying 'someone else will do it, '" the pope said. He called for a change in lifestyle and the use of resources, adding it can not be left for other to do.

On Monday, Pope Francis also said that contrary to what many presuppose, population control measures, or "reducing the number of mouths to feed", won't resolve the problem.

"Cutting back is easy", he said, but "sharing requires conversion and this is demanding".

"We can not act only if others do, nor limit ourselves to pity, because pity is limited to emergency aid, while love inspires justice", the Argentine pontiff said.

Global organizations, leaders and individuals need to act out of real love and mercy toward others - particularly the most vulnerable - in order to create a world based on true justice and solidarity.

In a visceral reminder to world leaders on just how devastating the effects of climate change and conflict caused migration can be, Francis commemorated his visit to the FAO by unveiling a marble statue of three-year old Alan Kurdi, a Syrian-Kurdish migrant who was found dead on the shores of Greece in 2015.
