Cow on the Loose in Prospect Park, Police Say

A child suffered minor injuries after a bull got loose in Brooklyn Tuesday.

Investigators think the cow - actually a young bull - escaped from a slaughterhouse a few miles away and ran to the park, the New York Daily News reported.

Dozens of people gathered at the field's fences to watch the unusual event unfold. The animal drew a crowd of curious onlookers and quickly stirred up a social media frenzy for the "Prospect Park Cow". It's not clear how seriously the child was hurt.

At least two other cows were found running through NY since the beginning of 2016.

Tips for Teen Driver Safety Week

The New York City Parks Department also got in on the act, tweeting: "Hey, has anyone seen a cow?".

According to ABC, the police reportedly tried to capture it earlier, but the bull refused to be caught.

The NYPD's Emergency Services Unit trapped the bull in a dugout near Coney Island and Caton Aves., where the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) used a tranquilizer to sedate the animal.

Twitter users joked about the loose cow and enjoyed the levity of the story.
