Ford recalls 1.3M F-Series pickups, including 2017 Super Duty

2017 Ford Super Duty

Ford is recalling more than 1.3 million F-150 and Super Duty trucks because a defective door latch could compromise driver and passenger safety.

Ford said on Wednesday it would recall about 1.3 million vehicles in North America to add a water shield to side door latches.

The recall involves 1,344,605 vehicles in North America, including 1,101,107 in the United States and federalized territories, 222,408 in Canada and 21,090 in Mexico.

The automaker said it will notify customers by letter the week of November 13 to let them know if their trucks are part of the recall.

In the next month, the automaker will install water shields over door latches, and inspect and make any necessary repairs free of charge.

Angola joins UN Human Rights Council
Besides the Maldives, Malaysia too had to return home without a membership seat getting just 129 votes in favour. Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal have been elected to the UN Human Rights Council along with 12 other countries.

The door may appear closed, but the latch may not fully engage, which means the door could open while the truck is being driven, Ford said. The reference number is 17S33.

The company said the cost of the recall was estimated to be $267 million, and would be reflected in its fourth quarter results. Ford said it continues to expect full-year adjusted earnings in the range of $1.65 to $1.85‍ per share.

The company in November 2016 sent a bulletin to dealers that warned some 2015-2017 Ford F-150 trucks could have inoperative latches during freezing temperatures.

According to the notice from Ford, the company is not aware of any crashes or injuries associated with the issue.

Sales jumped 5.2 percent to the tune of 820,799 trucks sold in 2016.
