Police investigate 'credible' rape claim against Weinstein

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein at the Elysee Palace Paris France

In a new report by Vanity Fair, actress Paz de la Huerta is accusing Harvey Weinstein of raping her twice in 2010.

De la Huerta told the news outlet that Weinstein began calling her after the incident and that she confronted him a month later at a Los Angeles hotel.

"She put forth a credible and detailed narrative to us", said New York's chief of detectives, Robert Boyce. "No doubt", he said, according to AP.

"We have an actual case here, so we are happy with where the investigation is right now". We then sought to garner corroboration - this happened seven years ago - and we found corroboration.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, De Le Huerta said that Weinstein insisted on having a drink at her apartment in NY after offering her a ride home from a hotel in October 2010.

"He pushed me on the bed... and it happened all very suddenly", she told CBS News over the phone.

John Wall Says Wizards 'Smell Blood' In Matchup With Cavaliers
Wall made the claim on an appearance alongside backcourt mate Bradley Beal on ESPN's " The Jump " with Rachel Nichols. Nichols then asked Wall to clarify if he thinks the Cavs avoided them to avoid playing them in the second round.

Following the alleged assaults, de la Huerta says she entered a very dark period, drinking to excess and slipping into depression. A Weinstein spokesperson has "unequivocally denied" any accusations of non-consensual sex.

Since then, dozens of women have come forward to tell similar tales of harassment or assault.

The latest sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein could result in the first criminal charges against the movie mogul, an NYPD source familiar with the investigation told CNN. She said the second rape occurred in December 2010 after Weinstein showed up at her apartment. "The investigation is on-going", the NYPD said in a statement Thursday night. We are actively investigating them.

Is there enough evidence for prosecutors to file charges against Weinstein?

But Boyce said detectives were working collaboratively with the district attorney's office on this case.

Manhattan district attorney's spokeswoman Joan Vollero says a senior sex crimes prosecutor has been assigned to the investigation, which is being conducted along with NY police.
