Twitter Temporarily Suspends President Trump's Personal Account

US President Donald Trump’s @realdonaldtrump Twitter account was deactivated by a former employee at Twitter

"We are conducting a full internal review", Twitter said in a tweet late on Thursday.

Following that statement, they released another statement saying that safeguards had been implemented to prevent this from happening again.

"Social media companies have always operated on the basis that mistakes will always happen with a live, open network and can be corrected after the event in a timely and transparent way", he said. Users can also deactivate their own accounts.

"It is shocking that some random Twitter employee could shut down the President's account".

The outspoken president has 41.7 million followers on his personal Twitter account, which he uses to blast controversial and attention-grabbing comments.

While the momentary outage led to a moment of frenzy and - for some - jubilation over Trump's absence on Twitter, there are serious questions being asked about what a bigger hack could do.

Jaffer said Friday that "love it or hate it, the account has become an important source of news and information about the government" and Trump's tweets "often shed light on official decisions and policies - and even when they don't, they shed light on the temperament, character, and motives of the person most responsible for them".

The company updated its rules Friday, clarifying that the context of tweets - including whether the content is "newsworthy" - is key for deciding what abusive behavior is and how to deal with it. Twitter said it would provide more detail on these policies later this month. "I guess the word must finally be getting out-and having an impact".

Injury forces Nadal out of Paris Masters
But I didn't want to stop", Nadal said. "The knee is always bothering me a little bit but sometimes it's worse". Nadal has fought back this year from a series of injuries, winning the French and US Open titles.

"Earlier today @realdonaldtrump's account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee".

Free speech advocates have said that it's better to keep Trump on the platform, and it should not be up to private companies to decide whether the president has a voice there.

Some are hailing the employee as a hero.

The site reserves the power to suspend or permanently shut down accounts. "What if they instead had tweeted fake messages?"

The Huffington Post pointed out that one tweet in particular, in which Trump said North Korea "won't be around much longer" if it continues to threaten the United States, prompted many to ask Twitter to ban Trump from the platform for inciting violence.

Suddenly faced with the specter of a Twitter-induced nuclear conflict, some users began asking why Mr Trump's bellicose rhetoric didn't constitute abuse.

Twitter has struggled in recent months in how it enforces, and explains, its procedures for managing accounts that violate its policies created to prevent hate, harassment and other abuse of the platform.
