Ivanka Trump to nod to 'womenomics' in Japan

Japan rolls out sleek, all-female police squad to protect Ivanka

Ivanka Trump escaped the escalating special counsel investigation that's swirling around the White House and her husband, Jared Kushner, to give a speech in Japan, where she's considered a media darling and beloved by some as the ideal woman.

But despite her well-intentioned comments, Ivanka Trump didn't get a positive response from Twitter, as many were quick to point out her father, President Donald Trump's, history of misogyny and treating women poorly.

Ivanka Trump is apparently well known in Japan for her modeling and fashion line.

The event was not as well attended as one might expect considering her popularity - Trump delivered an 18-minute speech to a partially-empty auditorium - but White House spokesman Josh Raffel said the hotel's strict security measures kept people from getting to their seats.

"All too often, our workplace culture fails to treat women with appropriate respect", Trump said, according to AFP.

Mueller has enough to bring charges in Flynn investigation
So far, only former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and former campaign adviser George Papadopoulos have been charged. Flynn Sr. was paid $530,000 for lobbying work benefiting Turkey, and only registered as foreign agent retroactively.

She spoke to the thin crowd and shared her views on sexual harassment and women's empowerment including issues that women have to deal with in the workplace. Women have been empowered to come forward to expose the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. You can do anything, ' Trump added. A recent Pew Research Center poll shows that less than a quarter of the population believe that he will "do the right thing in world affairs", a 54-percent drop from the confidence expressed for President Obama a year ago.

The Times said the mixed reaction to her appearance could reflect entrenched attitudes towards women in Japan.

She did not mention her father by name during the brief address and instead focused on her work with the U.S. administration to promote women's roles in the economy.

Trump will play golf and talk with Abe and meet with Emperor Akihito and relatives of people abducted by North Korea.
