Google to show estimated wait times for restaurants

Google already uses this data to show you when a restaurant will get busy through the "Popular Times" section on each restaurant listing.

The feature is rolling out to Search - and soon to Maps as well, will show you the wait times at almost a million sit-down restaurants around the world. Their latest feature will be showing you wait times at restaurants. Although not specified, this likely involves some activity and location tracking data being collected by Google from user's smartphones.

Found Dead in the Mediterranean Sea
Twenty-three of the girls were found near a rubber dinghy that officials believe sank on Friday, according to AFP . Among the 375 survivors were 90 women, eight of them pregnant, 52 children and some Libyan men and women on board.

To see wait times for almost a million sit-down restaurants around the world that allow walk-ins, just search for the restaurant on Google, open the business listing, and scroll down to the Popular Times section.

You can either look up the current wait times, or tap on an hour of your choice to find the estimated wait for that time period. But unlike Google, NoWait also lets you put your name on the list for those restaurants that don't take reservations. In addition, Google will tell you how long people typically spend at the restaurant. Moreover, summaries of each day's wait times can be pulled up by scrolling through the results. It will then come to Google Maps to Android, at which point it will expand to include grocery stores, the company says.
