Three UCLA basketball players were reportedly arrested in China for shoplifting only a few days before the team's season opener Friday against Georgia Tech.

LiAngelo Ball is one of three basketball-playing siblings who have emerged on the national stage in the U.S. in recent years, fuelled in part by father LaVar's aggressive promotion of his sons as future NBA superstars.

The UCLA Basketball team is now in Hangzhou, China, preparing for their season opener against Georgia Tech.

One source told ESPN the players - which also included freshmen Cody Riley and Jalen Hill - were arrested on shoplifting charges.

Manchester City's Raheem Sterling 'dives well', claims Arsene Wenger
The 25-year-old has made nearly 200 appearances for the Turkish giants, scoring 27 and providing 44 assists over that time. He added: " Arsene Wenger's game plan was to stop Manchester City playing and for periods, it worked".

A USC professor says the Chinese justice system is very political and the UCLA players will likely not serve any jail time.

The former Chino Hills star followed his older brother's footsteps enrolling in UCLA, fresh off an 11-point performance off the bench against Cal State Los Angeles in a dominating 111-80 win to start the preseason. The Bruins are in Shanghai to open up the season against Georgia Tech on Friday.

Georgia Tech also told ESPN in a statement that three of its players were questioned at the hotel by local authorities, who determined that they were "not involved in the activities being investigated". The three Bruins players are not now with the team. Goodman's story cited several attempts to reach Coach Steve Alford and Ball's controversial father, LaVar Ball. 'The kids were scared'.

Georgia Tech told ESPN that the school's freshmen players Jose Alvarado and Jon Brown, along with sophomore Justin Moore, were questioned and released. Hangzhou-based tech giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, which sponsors the annual Pac-12 basketball games in China, declined to comment, as did the Hangzhou police. LiAngelo Ball is about to begin playing for the UCLA Bruins. "They have resumed their scheduled activities", Flynn said.
