Apple Outbids Netflix for Aniston-Witherspoon Show on Morning TV

The two memorable appeared together on Friends when Witherspoon guest starred in two 2000 episodes.

Apple Inc. ordered a TV series starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, two of the most successful actresses of their generation, in the clearest sign yet of the tech giant's intent to make a big splash in Hollywood. Witherspoon has proven herself adept at both tasks, as her most recent project, Big Little Lies, won an Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series and seven other major awards.

Apple already took a step into TV this year when it created "Planet of the Apps" and a spinoff of James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" bit.

Friends star Jennifer Aniston has made the leap back into the TV world with producing partner Reese Witherspoon.

The now untitled Aniston-Witherspoon drama received a straight to series, two season order with ten episodes per season, and we're Madeline Martha Mackenzie-level excited.

Axed Luiz faces fight for Chelsea future, warns Conte
Maybe in the future I can decide in a different way, or continue in this way. I have a squad with 16 senior players, and five young players.

The morning show project is being run by Jay Carson, producer of "House of Cards", the political drama that put Netflix on the map as a home for premium original series.

The series, as yet untitled, will follow the lives of the morning show hosts there to wake America up each day, and the "unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual". The Hollywood Reporter first reported news of the project in July. In addition to Spielberg and Fuller, Amazing Stories is executive produced by Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Hart Hanson; and produced by Universal Television and Amblin Television.

Apple's programming efforts are being overseen by Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, who joined the company from Sony Corp.in June.

Premiere dates for Amazing Stories and the morning news show have not yet been determined.

Aniston came to fame as Rachel on the hit NBC comedy "Friends", which aired from 1994 to 2004.
