WOW air plans flights out of JFK

WOW Air

You can now get a bite of the Big Apple without breaking the bank.

The airline encourages passengers to bring their own food and drinks for the duration of the flight, and download films and TV shows onto an iPad or laptop to keep themselves entertained.

Good news, New Yorkers - Iceland's low-priced airline, WOW Air, will be offering flights out of JFK beginning April 26, 2018. The flight between Reykjavik and JFK is scheduled to be just over six hours and will be flown daily. WOW now offers flights from nearby Newark airport, where they're expanding service in 2018. It also includes flights for under £130 one-way to Newark, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit and Cleveland and if you're planning on visiting Iceland's capital next year, Wow Air's fares are particularly cheap, starting at £29.99 one-way.

Wow Air, the low cost carrier, is upfront about its no-frills approach to flying.

Today, $99 one-way fares are going on sale from JFK to Paris, Amsterdam, London Stansted, Frankfurt, Dublin, Copenhagen and Berlin.

Uber, NASA Flying Taxis Take Off ... on Drawing Board
But a spokesperson for the mayor said conversations about regulation, environmental effects and zoning had not yet started. Now, the ride-sharing company has taken the next step in the project, teaming up with NASA to help manage the vehicles.

Of course, there is a slight catch - or bonus depending how you look at it.

CEO and founder of WOW air, Skúli Mogensen, said in a statement: "We are proud to constantly be lowering fares across the Atlantic, enabling more people to fly in our brand-new aircraft and to experience the world".

WOW air already provides services to Newark from Ireland and from April 26 next year, it will also service the biggest airport in the Big Apple, with flights departing from Dublin Airport seven days a week.

With more planes on the way, WOW Air's US and Europe growth will continue, creating new ways for passengers to connect between the two continents.
