Apple Accused Of Copying Camera Technology For The iPhone 8 Plus

Israeli company sues Apple for dual lens camera patent infringement

According to Corephotonics, the Cupertino brand infringe on four of its patents with the dual cameras on the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus. According to the complaint, Corephotonics reached out to Apple back when it was first starting up in an attempt to form a partnership.

It also continues to read that Apple had only good things to say about the technology of Corephotonics, but it didn't agree to license it, even going so far as to imply that it could infringe on the patents with "little consequences".

The iPhone X joins the iPhone 7 Plus and and 8 Plus in delivering Portrait mode features to the phones' rear cameras. Since Apple is selling the products with "knowledge of or willful blindness" of the patents it's allegedly infringing, the lawsuit claims that consumers who buy the iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus are infringing on the Corephotonics' telephoto lens assembly patent as well.

Thank you for signing up.

. More interesting, however, is the accusation that Apple even boasted it could get away with it.
