Gold medalist Aly Raisman says USA national team doctor sexually abused her

Aly Raisman, six-time Olympic medal victor and one of the biggest names in the sport of gymnastics, has accused ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar of sexual abuse.

Raisman, the captain of the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold-medal winning teams, details the abuse in her book "Fierce", which will be released on Tuesday.

According to CBS News, Raisman will reveal her experiences with Nassar on 60 Minutes on Sunday.

As for the silence that has surrounded Dr. Nassar's actions for so long, she asks, "Why are we not interested in what the Federation has done, what Larry Nassar has done, to manipulate these girls so much? they were afraid to talk?"

Larry Nassar is accused of multiple sexual abuse on gymnasts for almost 20 years.

The first public accusations against Nassar came a little more than a year ago, and more than 130 women have filed suits accusing Nassar of sexual assault.

Nassar began working with USA Gymnastics as an athletic trainer in 1986 and became the national team doctor in 1996.

It is not known whether Raisman or Maroney are part of those lawsuits.

Nassar also pleaded guilty in July to federal charges of receiving child pornography, possessing child pornography and to a charge that he hid and destroyed evidence in the case.

Second daughter for Andy Murray and wife Kim
He tried to come back at the US Open in late August, although conceded that he was too ambitious with the benefit of hindsight. After taking the first set 6-3, Federer was interviewed and said that if someone brought him a kilt, he'd wear it.

It is also reported he still faces 33 charges of criminal sexual conduct in MI. Larry is now awaiting his sentencing for separate charges and could face life in prison if convicted on any of those allegations.

In the past, Nassar and his attorneys have defended the intra-vaginal and intra-rectal procedures as accepted medical practice.

In June, the gymnastics board adopted the new USA Gymnastics SafeSport Policy that replaced the previous policy. "We are appalled by the conduct of which Larry Nassar is accused, and we are very sorry that any athlete has been harmed during her or his gymnastics career".

USA Gymnastics never informed Nassar's employer at the time, Michigan State University, about the circumstances surrounding Nassar's resignation, and he continued to treat patients in Michigan until he was sacked by the school in September 2016.

The 23-year-old Raisman has been highly critical of USA Gymnastics in recent months, calling for leadership change at the top of the organization while advocating for athlete's rights.

"I am angry", Raisman told "60 Minutes". I can't. every time I look at them, every time I see them smiling, I just think.

The former athlete, who claims to be "angry", wants to "just bring change" so that young gymnasts "never have to live this again".

"In the previous year, Aly has become an advocate for many issues, and sharing her personal experience of abuse takes great courage", USA Gymnastics said.

Ever since Maroney, 21, spoke out against him, over 140 women have come forward to sue him and his former employer, Michigan State University. Raisman was the captain of the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold-medal winning USA team.
