Pokemon Go Creators to make Harry Potter Augmented Reality Game

All Eight Harry Potter Films To Stream Via HBO From January 1st

"With this game, we are allowing the passionate, worldwide fan base to experience J.K. Rowling's deeply powerful and imaginative universe in a new, truly immersive way", said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros.

The developers of the massively successful game Pokemon Go are releasing a new Harry Potter-themed follow-up. Players will move through their physical world to collect power-ups and defend locations (presumably, similar to Pokémon Go's gym system).

The game will launch sometime in 2018. Interactive Entertainment's Portkey Games, a new games label dedicated to creating video game and mobile experiences inspired by J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World.

Hulu is now available on Nintendo Switch
If Nintendo hits its mark, that would mean the Switch could best its predecessor's (the Wii U) lifetime sales in a single year. After months of waiting, it appears that the Nintendo Switch is getting its very first video streaming app today.

The Pokemon title became the first mainstream hit for augmented reality, in which real-world views captured via a camera are mixed together with computer graphics on the screen.

Details on the game are pretty scarce, so it's not clear what the game will involve or what its mechanics will be. In regards to the "learn and cast spells" bit, that has a lot of promise to feel great using your phone's motion sensors and I can only imagine which "mysterious artifacts" we'll be able to find. "Stay tuned to our social channels for updates as we work to bring this game to life". In addition to making all eight Harry Potter films available via HBO On Demand, HBO Now and HBO Go, the network will air them in a marathon - with Fantastic Beasts tacked on at the end - starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at 9 a.m. ET/PT on Monday, Jan. 1.

Niantic Labs has enjoyed enormous success by taking on Nintendo's popular "Pokemon" franchise to produce "Pokemon Go".
