Bentley Continental GT3 racer launched

New Bentley Continental GT3 racer revealed

Since its debut in 2013, the original GT3 has secured 45 wins and 120 podium finishes, and the second-generation wants to raise that bar even higher.

Based off the 2019 Continental GT road auto, the new GT3 has a mostly aluminum structure. It has been developed by Bentley Motorsport in Crewe, with technical assistance from the M-Sport rally team that runs the world championship-winning Ford Fiesta World Rally Car.

The 2018 Continental GT3 racing vehicle has already undergone six months of testing ahead of the 2018 campaign, which includes the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup where Bentley Motorsport reign as the defending teams champions.

Bentley has revealed its new Continental GT3 racecar, a precursor to a hot Continental GT road auto which will likely arrive by 2020. This is also the first time Bentley's GT3-spec cars will participate in the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

Suspension and braking systems are new and totally tailored to the Continental GT3, while a six-speed sequential gearbox replaces the road car's automatic unit. The new vehicle leaves no area or system untouched in the search for even better performance, and the early tests are promising.

It has already started a six-month test program in the UK, France and Portugal, while it is set to complete 24-hour endurance race simulations soon. Bentley is eyeing the Blancpain GT Series Endurance the most, and thus the new GT3's inaugural race will occur at Round 2 of Blancpain at Monza on April 22.

The auto will be made available to customers in June.

With the IGTC season-opening Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour running to previous-year GT3 homologations, the new vehicle will make its competition debut in the Endurance Cup season-opener at Monza in April, with the team set to run its current-generation model in Australia.
