The London-born star, 30, is best known for his role as Chuck Bass in United States teen drama Gossip Girl but more recently has starred in BBC Two sitcom White Gold and BBC's upcoming Agatha Christie drama Ordeal by Innocence.

The broadcaster said Westwick has also paused filming on the 1980s-set sitcom White Gold.

Two women have come forward this week to accuse former Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick of rape.

The Corporation said: 'These are serious allegations which Ed Westwick has strenuously denied.

The production company behind that series has announced that filming has been halted while Westwick deals with the allegations.

A second actress, Aurelie Wynn, also accused Westwick of sexually assaulting her in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Chiefs' Roy Miller accused of dragging wife by her hair
At some point, a bedroom door slammed and she heard "thumping" coming from inside the room as if someone was being hit. The verbal argument allegedly turned physical, with Nicole Miller saying he pushed her around and grabbed her hair.

Yesterday, Westwick took to his Twitter page to deny the allegations and wrote: "It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude that I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct".

He added that he is cooperating with authorities and expects his name to be cleared.

Yesterday another woman, Aurélie Wynn, accused him of raping her at a house he was renting in LA in July 2014.

"Ordeal By Innocence" was due to form part of BBC One's Christmas programming but in a statement issued on Friday (10 November) morning, a spokesperson explained that it will not air "until these matters are resolved".

"I told him to stop, but he was strong", she wrote. "I have never forced myself in any manner, on any women".

The Los Angeles Police department has since launched an investigation into Cohen's case after the actress filed a police report Wednesday.
