Lyft Further Challenges Uber By Announcing An International Expansion Into Canada

Lyft Uber's rideshare rival has chosen Toronto for its first market outside the U.S. Future driver Khalid Ahmed will drive for Lyft when they set up shop here next month in Toronto

Lyft is expanding to Toronto.

In its first worldwide launch, Lyft is heading north of the border.

"We have had our sights set on worldwide expansion for months, and the Canadian market is an obvious fit for Lyft's culture, values and the service that we provide", Lyft CEO Logan Green said in a statement to CNN Tech.

The company did not say exactly when the service would be available in the city, but says it will be "around to help ring in the holidays".

Mississippi State tied with Alabama at 24 in the 4th
Following Hurts's last touchdown, Nick Fitzgerald heaved a pass out of the back of the end zone to seal an Alabama victory. Mississippi State's power running game gained 172 yards, but in the end Alabama was able to slow the Bulldogs down.

In 2017, Lyft expanded to cover around 94 percent of US residents, up from around 60 percent at the start of the year, with multiple new markets added across the country. We see it as a world-class city. The company is expecting to launch next month, however it is not in a position just yet to announce passenger rates, driver fees, or details of its Toronto office.

Uber is the king of ride-hailing services, but has been embroiled in a number of controversies including allegations that the San Francisco-based company has a culture of sexism and sexual harassment and a history of poor treatment of drivers. For example, Quebec wants drivers to complete 35 hours of training, which Uber said was not feasible for many of its drivers who have other jobs and only drive for the service part-time.

The city is four months late in reporting back on the first year of new ride-hailing rules introduced by Toronto city council.
