In Crackdown on MS-13, ICE Arrests Six in Montgomery County

MS-13 gang members are arrested during the Department of Homeland Security’s “Operation Raging Bull,” in Dallas Texas on Nov. 15 2017

"However we are now combating the gang with renewed focus and an unprecedented level of cooperation among DHS's components and our domestic and global partners", said Thomas Homan, ICE deputy director and senior official performing the duties of the director.

It is too early to tell what effects operations such as this will have on MS-13's presence and growth in the United States.

Benner said 198 of the alleged MS-13 members who were arrested were foreign nationals, while 16 suspects were USA citizens. 11 across the United States, resulted in 214 arrests, officials said.

The operation was led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations, with the help from federal, state, local and worldwide law enforcement partners.

The group of 214 include 193 illegal aliens, including 121 arrestees who will be deported but will not face criminal charges. About 60 of the arrests involved people illegally crossing the border as unaccompanied children, officials said. "Sixteen of those arrested were USA citizens and 198 were foreign nationals, of which only five had legal status to be in the United States".

The charges against the alleged members arrested in NY were not immediately available.

Dubbed "Operation Raging Bull", the gang sweep netted a total of 267 MS-13 members in the USA and overseas, officials said. Of the total, 218 were arrested across the USA between October 8 and November 11, while the others were arrested in El Salvador in September, according to a press release.

The MS-13 gang, also called Mara Salvatrucha, started in Los Angeles in the mid-1980s. Without economic skills in California's diverse society, they formed their own national gang - and then recreated that gang in their own homeland once the illegal immigrants were repatriated home.

The arrests were made in recent weeks as part of a major anti-gang crackdown code-named Operation Raging Bull. USCIS had one of its Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS) agents at the Raging Bull command center full time to work to that effect.

More than 250 suspected members of the unsafe worldwide MS-13 gang were arrested in a six-month crackdown by the USA government.

MS-13 gang members are known for their tattooed bodies.

He said during the operation, Border Patrol identified additional MS-13 gang members, who are now on the transnational organized crime watchlist.
