Film industry should boycott IFFI over Padmavati row: Shabana Azmi

Shahid Kapoor in a still from'Padmavati

In a statement, a spokesperson from Viacom 18 said that it has voluntarily deferred the release date of the film from December 1st 2017 and that they have the highest respect and regard for the law of the land and all institutions and statutory bodies including the Central Board of Film Certification. "S Durga", "Nude" and "Padmavati" to begin with. "We will not allow the release of the movie, be it December 1or any other date".

Veteran actor Shabana Azmi today said the film industry should boycott the International Film Festival of India to mark its protest against threats to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his Padmavati star Deepika Padukone. "The only advice given is to shut up, retreat and accept these attacks".

"So SLB (Bhansali) should show the film to those who threaten to have him beheaded? And get their approval?"

A new release date will be announced once the "requisite clearances" are in place, the production house added. CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi told ANI, "It is disappointing that the film "Padmavati" is being screened for the media and getting reviewed on national channels without CBFC having seen or certified the film".

Wouldn't Let Mauricio Pochettino Leave For £100m Compensation - Tottenham Legend
And when the guy they have now took over from me, it wasn't broken. "I don't think we struggle away from home", he added. Some he got rid of but they were sold on for a good price and it's all helped to pay for a nice little training ground.

This comes close on the heels of the CBFC returning Bhansali's drama on Friday over incomplete application.

Amu also warned Ranveer Singh, who is playing the role of Alauddin Khalji in the film saying that he will break his legs if he continues to support the director.

"It's weird! The whole "Padmavati" row is based on just presumptions". And I did not speak out... "Finally they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me..." quoting lines from a poem by Pastor Martin Niemoller on Nazi Germany.
