President Buhari mourns Former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says former Vice President Alex Ekwueme was a great Nigerian whose life has been a life of devoted and distinguished service to his fatherland.

Ekwueme's proposals at the National Constitutional Conference (NCC) where he served on the Committee on the Structure and Framework of the Constitution, is believed to be what led a number of political parties in the country to adopt the zoning formula.

He said‎ the late Mr. Ekwueme was an exceptional personality who lived a life full of achievements in his professional career as an architect of worldwide repute and also in the field of politics where he established himself as a remarkable politician and rallying point among his kinsmen, contemporaries and generality of Nigerians.

"He is one of the founding father of democracy that is now being abused. This is the only way the death of Ekwueme would not be in vain" he concluded.

"On behalf of the government and people of Lagos State, I want to express our heartfelt condolence to the family of Dr. Alex Ekwueme on this great and irreparable loss".
