Kulbhushan Jadhav's family members must not be "questioned or harassed"

Kulbhsuhan Jadhav wife and mother

While Pakistan is yet to grant visa to Kulbhushan's mother as the latter's wished, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said they have conveyed to Pakistan that Kulbhushan's wife would like to accompany her mother-in-law to Pakistan.

Furthermore, the government of Pakistan has chose to arrange a meeting of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav with his wife in Pakistan.

This April, Pakistan military court had approved a death sentence for Jadhav, claiming that he was a serving Indian officer who had been involved in espionage and terror attacks.

His mother Avantika had made repeated pleas earlier, which went unreciprocated by the neighbouring country. But, ICJ stayed his execution on India's appeal since then he is in the imprisonment of Pakistan. In its response, New Delhi conveyed to Islamabad that Jadhav's mother would also like to travel with her daughter-in-law to Pakistan.

Amazon Echo Show Just Got a Key Feature Back
Echo Buttons act like game show buzzers for voice-based trivia games., enabled by the new Alexa Gadgets API, and cost $20 for 2. The rift between Google and Amazon widened when former suddenly stopped allowing YouTube to work on the Echo Show.

Treading cautiously on Pakistan's "humanitarian" offer to allow ex-Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav to meet his wife, India has sought a guarantee from Islamabad on her safety and security. After India approached the ICJ, a 10-member bench on May 18 restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav till adjudication of the case. It is hard to think that Pakistan will allow a staffer of Indian High Commission to accompany Jadhav's family when they meet him.

The demand that an Indian diplomat be allowed as an escort is different from the request for consular access. India has said that the request to allow Jadhav's mother meet him is still pending with Pakistan Government and that should also be considered. "The Indian request is under consideration".

Sources said that India will decide the way forward only after getting Pakistan's response. "While the Government hopes that Pakistan would facilitate visit by the wife and mother of Jadhav, we are determined to pursue all measures with full vigour so as to secure the final release of an innocent Indian", Raveesh added.
