Trump renews call for 'ban' after deadly attack in Egypt

Injured persons being transported to hospitals after the attack

Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi vowed on Friday a "fierce action" will be carried out in response to a mosque's attack in North Sinai province that left at least 235 killed amid local and global condemnation, state-run TV reported.

The security officers said the men opened fire on worshipers during prayers while driving in off-road vehicles. Officials say about 130 others were also hurt.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, a former armed forces commander who presents himself as a defender against Islamist militants, convened an emergency meeting with his defence and interior ministers and intelligence chief soon after the attack, the presidency's Facebook page and state television said. Egypt's presidency declared three days of national mourning.

"I am deeply saddened by the cowardly terrorist act that targeted a mosque, in northern Sinai, and resulting deaths and injuries, the Crown Prince said".

Images from inside the building showed dozens of bodies wrapped in blood-soaked cloth lined up on the carpeted floor. "The world can not tolerate terrorism, we must defeat them militarily and discredit the extremist ideology that forms the basis of their existence!"

In March 19 2016 13 Egyptians policemen were killed by ISIL-SP during an attack in the El-Arish checkpoint, Arish is the largest city in Sinai. After at least two explosions, the attackers waited outside the mosque and gunned down worshipers as they tried to flee to safety.

"We stand with Egyptians in their war against terrorism and against anyone who tries to harm the Egyptian national security", Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said in a statement.

Prime Minister of United Kingdom Theresa May called the attacks "sickening" "evil" and "cowardly".

Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman strongly denounced the killing of the worshippers as "a coward terrorist action that killed honest secured people in one of God's houses".
