Destiny 2 Free Trial Sees the Light This Week

Well well well

Players now need double the amount of XP in order to level up in the game.

Bungie issued a statement to say it was unhappy with the hidden system it had coded, and it would, for now, switch if off. The Destiny 2 free trial releases just after the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales that saw the game majorly discounted at various retailers.

So once you reach Level 20 you can still gain XP and levelling up now won't give you a level but a Bright Engram. Whatever progress you make will also carry over to the full game, should you choose to purchase it.

The tweet comes after the studio revealed that it added a system in the game that scaled the amount of experience points acquired in some portions of the game. You would think that the debacle of the initial scaling discovery would be enough to convince all involved to be very open and up-front about what's going on, and yet here we are, once again getting confirmation rather than advance notice.

Return Of The Cat: Tiger Woods Reportedly Out-Driving Dustin Johnson
What appears to be different this time, at least from those who have played with him, is the absence of pain. The difference Reed noticed was that Woods looked more free and fluid in going after any shot.

As a result, players will see XP earn rates change for all activities across the board, but with all values being displayed consistently in the user interface.

"After reviewing our data, we agree that the system is not performing the way we'd like it to", the developer stated in a recent post on its official site.

"We are not happy with the results, and we've heard the same from the community", the post continues. The mechanic that was seeing regular players receiving XP slower than those who pop on for a few hours per week was said to have been removed "effective immediately" last week.

Bungie have acknowledge this is the case and have removed the throttling, but have not explained why it existed in the first place. But it's nowhere near what players had expected it to be after Bungie simply announced it had switched off the scaling system.
