What is Giving Tuesday and how can you take part?

Local organizations asking for support on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 by a team at the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact in New York City. Plus, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has ponied up $2 million to match donations, with a limit of $50,000 per nonprofit.

In celebration of Giving Tuesday, Facebook is waiving fees for donations made to nonprofits.

"#GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges", according to their website.

"What's unique about Tuesday is they can give anyway they want to", Zurbrugg said.

Waymo Trial Delayed Again With Sharp Words for Uber From Judge
The letter reportedly had several bombshell revelations, including methods that Uber instructed employees to evade investigations. Uber had a unit dedicated to stealing trade secrets, according to ex-staffer Richard Jacobs, who testified in court Tuesday.

Zurbgrugg said in IL, a website has gone up that allows donors to give to their favorite nonprofit or charity organization online at www.ilgive.com, and promoted on social media using the hashtag #ilgive.

Make sure any website you are donating on has the "http" in the address to help keep your credit card information secure. But how do you get involved and ensure your donations go the farthest?

We also received an interesting letter from Art Taylor, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau's Give.org branch, who pointed out that it isn't just older people who are sharing their money with nonprofits. Once you configure the app, you have a chance to win a $1,000 donation to your charity through their monthly Doofl ("donation raffle" or "Do-Full").

While there are many worthy causes and charities that a person can donate to, it is important that you know where your money is going.
