Google finally corrects its burger emoji

Google Has Officially Fixed Its Illegitimate Cheeseburger Emoji

But Google's burger emoji isn't the only one that has been attacked.

Microsoft, Facebook, and Twitter get it right with their Five Guys approach: lettuce, tomato, cheese, and patty, sandwiched between two buns.

In Android 8.1 Developer Preview 2, Google has changed the place of the cheese slice and has brought it on top of the meat patty.

All's well that ends well, as every cheeseburger emoji out there is now properly following regulations and have their cheese on top of the burger patty, from Apple's take to Samsung's, though the Cupertino brand does have the lettuce on top of the bottom bun, which could come across as kind of weird for some. But for now, I think the forgiving process can begin.

Folding Apple iPhone could be in your pocket soon
It will be a surreal moment with a dash of nostalgia when you flip open a new iPhone with a seamless screen. Samsung is also rumored to be working on a foldable version of its Galaxy branded smartphones .

It was provoked by Twitter user Thomas Baekdal, who tweeted a screen shot of Apple and Google's burger emojis side by side, raising questions over where the cheese should go. While Android Oreo 8.1 doesn't have a lot that's changed, Google CEO Sundar Pichai asked the team to "drop everything" to solve the issue. Another emoji that has been fixed is of the cheese, which now has refined edges on the holes and readjusted colour tone.

The hamburger emoji (also known as "burger" and "cheeseburger") was approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010, and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015. The emoji used in Android had the cheese slice placed at the last, something which was incorrect.

In addition to correcting the cheese placement, the new beta also contains updated emojis for "Beer" and "Beers" filling up beer steins to the top so that the frothy head makes more sense.

According to Emojipedia, a site that tracks the emoji universe and all its changes, the burger design has been updated in the forthcoming Android 8.1 release, announced on Monday. The version comes with official APIs, bug fixes and optimisations along with November security patch. The final version is confirmed to arrive in December.
