Father Of Murder Victim Uses Grenade To Blow Up Ukrainian Courtroom

Two grenades were let off in the courtroom

An angry father of a murder victim detonated two grenades in a Ukrainian court Thursday, killing himself and at least one other person.

He "died on the spot after the explosion", local police said in the statement.

The explosions occurred during a murder hearing in Nikopol, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the Ukrayinsk Pravda news website said.

Police in Nikipol, Ukraine confirmed that seven people were injured in the blast including three defendants and a court employee.

Images from the courtroom showed blood on the floors in the cage in which the defendants sat, and scattered glass shards as the grenades caused the courtroom's windows to blow out.

Reports suggested that the blast was so powerful that it nearly took a door off its hinges and smashed the windows of the court room. "Investigations are underway", they said in a statement on Facebook. During the hearing, the father of one of the victims launched the two grenades, killing 2 people and injuring 10.

The suspect stands accused of killing the man's son and one other person after shooting at a auto they were in with an automatic weapon in 2016. "All victims were taken to the hospital".

The spokesman added that a total of nine people were wounded, including the defendants, court personnel and guards.
