The Pontiac Silverdome Is Apparently Indestructible As An Implosion Attempt Failed

Soon to be a vacant lot

Talk about anticlimactic: Michigan's Silverdome was scheduled to implode on Sunday morning, and the explosives went off at 8:30am, reports CNN-but when the smoke cleared, the Pontiac landmark was still erect.

A city spokesperson told FOX 2 that "what they were told to happen, did not happen".

The first the blast is supposed to break the metal beams supporting the upper ring of the dome, which is a 20-foot steel band that held up the equipment used to inflate the roof.

But construction officials told WXYZ the explosives did succeed in breaking the stadium's steel beams. "It's going to take us a while to research it all".

Wrestler John Cena sued for flipping his Ford GT
WWE star John Cena is being sued by Ford after selling £370,000 GT supercar for huge profit before a strict contract allowed. According to court documents, Cena had the GT delivered on September 23, 2017, and by October 20 he had already sold it.

However, the Silverdome was "built a little too well", officials say. With cameras rolling for the always entertaining spectacle of a large-scale implosion, in typical Detroit style, a series of charges went off and the Silverdome remained largely unscathed. One posted, "The #Silverdome not collapsing when the charges went off might be the most #Lions thing in the history of Lions things". However, the Silverdome apparently is indestructible, as the numerous explosions failed to bring down the building. Crews said the building could fall in on its own today.

The stadium opened in 1975, hosting the Detroit Lions until 2002.

The Silverdome property sits on 127 acres and was last used as home of the Detroit Lions in 2001.

It's still there. Unless gravity has paid a visit.
